Competent Authority

Thank you for taking the time to examine my blog.
I wrote a book called Competent Authority or the CA, fiction based upon my military experiences.
I invite you to join me on a journey into the shadowy, dangerous world of military intelligence and take the challenge of being shown sides of one’s own self to which most would rather be spared perceiving.
What happens when a person is sent a long way from home into a foreign land in which decency and common courtesy we take for granted back where you are in what those out here call “the World” can actually get a person into trouble?
You know about the conflicts that raged during the last decade of the last century in the Persian Gulf, the Balkans, the Motherland and the last bastion of pure communism on Planet Earth found in Asia as well as the war on drugs that took place in this country.
What you might or might not know is that in all of those conflicts, Saddam’s Iraqis, the Bosnian and Yugoslav Serbs, Somali rebels, narcotics traffickers and the North Koreans were the last thing about which a servicemember needed to worry.
Often, one’s own chain of command and coworkers pose a graver threat to a servicemember than any enemy could hope to present and require that a soldier, sailor, Marine or airman placed in situations for which no type or amount of training prepares her or him to take certain disconcerting actions outside her or his normal moral code or sphere of ethics just to survive.
It’s a challenge to learn hidden truths about oneself but you can do it. You have it in you to ask yourself, “What would I do in the same situations (?)” and “Could I overcome the same long odds as the characters in the CA (?).” Those are questions one can only answer for herself or himself.
In the mean time, I invite you to laugh, cry, feel outrage, learn, stand up and cheer but most of all, enjoy exploring the fine line between carnality and spirituality in which the colorful cast of characters, each of which is a composite of several different individuals both familiar and unknown to you straddle when you purchase Competent Authority. You’ll be glad you did.
